Notheca is a reading and research workspace operated by Mudos Digital. This notice describes the current hosted pilot. Updated 29 October 2026.
When you choose Apple or Google sign-in, Notheca receives a provider account identifier and, when provided and verified, your email address and display name. Your Apple or Google password is not shared with Notheca. The identifiers connect your devices to the same Notheca account.
Books, notes, translations, dictionary entries, projects and uploaded files are stored on the workspace server. Each account has a separate workspace. Research content is not sent to Apple or Google as part of sign-in and is not publicly published by signing in. Server operators with access to the server can access stored data; the pilot does not provide end-to-end encryption.
Connecting Drive is separate from signing in with Google. With your permission, Notheca can view and download Drive files to inventory selected book folders and read books. Original Drive books remain in Drive; Notheca stores bibliographic records, review excerpts, notes and version-bound file references. Reading streams file data through the workspace server without a permanent server PDF copy. The iPhone may keep a bounded reading cache. Drive credentials are encrypted on the host and are not shared with external API clients. The integration does not edit, delete or share Drive originals and does not call AI services. External applications can read only the Notheca books permitted by the API key you grant them. Disconnecting Drive removes local connection credentials; it preserves book records and notes. Standard workspace backups retain references, not the original Drive books.
When you open the extension on a page, it reads that page’s address, title and any selected text so you can review your capture. You may add a note and choose whether to include visible page text. Only when you choose to save does the extension send the selected information over HTTPS to your Notheca workspace. Page addresses, text and notes can contain personal or confidential information; review them before saving. The extension does not collect your general browsing history or read pages in the background.
Until you save or discard them, capture drafts are stored locally on your device in the extension’s Chrome storage, including any page text you choose to capture. These local drafts are not separately encrypted by the extension and remain after the browser closes. Each draft is cleared on a successful save or when you discard it. The extension uses your existing Notheca browser session; it does not receive your Google or Apple password. Saved copies and notes are stored in your workspace and backups as described in this notice. Cloudflare processes requests to the workspace server.
Notheca’s use and transfer of information received through Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
HTTPS protects connections. A secure browser session cookie keeps you signed in; a short-lived cookie protects an Apple or Google sign-in attempt. The iPhone app stores its session in the device Keychain and keeps local copies of notes and drafts. Cloudflare provides the public connection to the workspace server and processes network requests. Apple and Google process sign-in under their own privacy notices.

You can export your workspace using Backups and export book notes as Markdown. Server backups retain copies for recovery. Archiving a source keeps its records; it is not permanent deletion. Contact the workspace operator for account access or removal requests. Signing out revokes the selected session; it does not delete your research.
