Publishing principles

Editorial pre-acceptance criteria for proposed work. These are objectives for human assessment; their presence does not mean a submission has passed review.

Research articles

Length is discipline- and venue-specific. As one example, the Journal of British Studies author instructions normally expect research articles of 8,000–12,000 words including footnotes. This is that journal’s requirement, not a universal standard or an automatic acceptance threshold here.

Book reviews

Research notes

Label preliminary work clearly; explain the narrow question, evidence and limitations. A note is not represented as a full research article merely because it has several web pages.

Books

Sources, citations and integrity

Use sources actually consulted, verify printed page or section locators and quotations, and distinguish a full reading from an abstract. Authors and editors should check notes and bibliography, including Chicago formatting where selected. Length and citation counts alone do not establish quality. Respect privacy, accessibility and copyright. Author names and affiliations must not be invented.

Editorial status

A peer-review claim requires an actual review and clear disclosure; an automated check is not peer review. Do not claim a DOI, ISBN, ISSN, indexing or certification without evidence. Disclose limitations and provide a way to correct errors. These criteria describe editorial targets; the site does not claim that all processes or infrastructure are already in place.

Publication terms

The intended model treats the author as the publisher of the book and Notheca as the digital service and reading platform. The proposed agreement is a non-exclusive platform licence with a reading-based share of subscription revenue. Scope, compensation formula, reporting and other terms have not yet been finalised. Initial preparation is for Türkiye; requirements in other countries have not yet been verified. See the agreement draft for details; the draft does not itself grant rights or constitute a contract.
